About the Storyteller . . .

The art of storytelling became important to Miriam at an early age - in the fifth grade. Hearing a story she took to heart, Miriam grabbed anyone who would listen, becoming a storyteller herself. In the last forty years as a teacher, librarian, and educator, she continued the art of storytelling at schools, churches, clubs, and retirement homes. Miriam uses humor, history and folklore to stimulate the imagination, promote character education and enhance multicultural understanding.
Some groups who have enjoyed Miriam's storytelling include:
Delta Kappa Gamma Convention, Waco, Texas
Fort Bend Librarians Workshop, Sugar Land, Texas
Settlers Way Elementary, Sugar Land, Texas
Oyster Creek Elementary, Sugar Land, Texas
Lake Olympia Middle School, Missouri City, Texas
The Forum Retirement Home, Houston, Texas
Fort Bend Junior League, Sugar Land, Texas
According to Miriam, "storytelling reaches children in a non-threatening medium, capturing their imagination and taking them along for the ride." She believes in the magic of stories. Her animated performances enrich academic offerings in both reading and writing. Miriam believes that "if a child can tell their own story, then that child can write a story."
Each performance is customized for the ages of the audience, the subject area requested, and the occasion. Miriam's performances include:
Multi Cultural Fairy Tales
Folk tales from around the world
Tall tales
Ghost stories
Texas history
Holidays
